Accessibility at Appalachian Design Build Inc
Appalachian Design Build Inc wants every visitor to be able to find what they need on this website, read about our work, and get in touch with us, whatever device, browser, or assistive technology they use.
Our Commitment
We treat accessibility as part of building a good website, not as an add-on. This site is designed and maintained with people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, voice control, and other assistive tools in mind.
We review the site as it changes and fix problems as we find them.
The Standard We Follow
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities.
Meeting these guidelines is an ongoing effort. Some areas of the site may not yet fully meet every criterion, and we work to close those gaps.
How This Site Is Built
The site is built with accessibility measures that include:
- Text alternatives for meaningful images
- A heading structure that reflects how each page is organized
- Navigation, menus, and forms that work with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator
- Text and background colors chosen to meet WCAG contrast guidelines
- Form fields with visible labels and error messages that explain what needs to be corrected
- Pages that adapt to phones, tablets, and desktops, and that can be zoomed without losing content
- Reduced animation for visitors who have asked their device to minimize motion
Accessibility Tools
An accessibility menu is available on every page of this site. It lets you adjust things like text size, spacing, contrast, and cursor size to suit how you browse.
Your browser and operating system also include tools that work alongside it, such as zoom, high contrast modes, and built-in screen readers.
Third-Party Content
Some parts of this site come from other providers, such as embedded maps, spam protection on our forms, and accessibility or analytics tools. We choose these providers with care, but we do not control their content and cannot guarantee that it fully meets the standard above.
If a third-party feature gets in your way, contact us and we will help you another way.
Tell Us About a Problem
If you have trouble using any part of this website, or you have a suggestion for making it more accessible, please let us know. Tell us the page you were on and what happened, and we will work to fix it and to get you the information you need in the meantime.
Email us at [email protected] or call (540) 230-5157.
